Lamune was a fun watch, nothing more or less if you ask me - and that's pretty much what you've been saying too. It most certainly has that "healing" effect, more so than other VN adaptations in my mind, but it also lacked the highest level of drama/romance that I usually need to get into a story. Then again, it's an obscure visual novel - of course it isn't going to be Key level, or anything close.

Either way, though, it's refreshing, relaxing, and a good way to get your mind off things; and I suppose that's nothing to complain about.

Ah, yeah, I ran through Lamune during the summer. You got more out of it than I did, I think, and that's good. Maybe I'd enjoy it more now that I don't feel inclined to murder every slice of life show I run into with a band saw. I didn't dislike it, particularly; it just struck me as entirely unremarkable, excepting the last few episodes. It may be one of those situations where initial episodes that seem to go nowhere have their existence justified by a strong, relevant ending, but to figure that out I'd have to watch it again, and, given that I'm watching twelve airing shows, must qualify or disqualify my latest blog post by watching Hidamari Sketch, and still have the second and third seasons of Aria waiting for me after that, Lamune isn't high on my priorities list. I'll say to hell with it and assume based on your post that I missed something the first time through.

Now that I think about it, though, I'd like to watch it at least once more, if only so I can write a treatise on the Freudian nature of all the ramune bottles, the abundance of running water, and other such things.

Lamune was awesome!

Also, was it really harem? Dude, I dunno. It seemed like half of a love triangle to me.

Anyway, I too pretty much "marathoned" Lamune. I enjoyed it a lot, it made me feel good, etc. Definitely healing. Very pure. Very beautiful. Relaxing. I don't remember the episodes, though, so I'd agree with you on the standalone issue.

Buuuut I don't think that's so much a problem for an entire genre.

To Heart and Aria episodes (for examples) all seemed pretty standalone to me, and I can remember them by events/messages/etc. Even if nothing central to the plot is happening (Aria has 5 episodes of plot in 52 episodes+OVA), there're still the day-to-day occurrences that stand out in memories (of the characters, and so are portrayed, and then we remember them too).

On second thought, Lamune probably had that going for it, too. I just watched it too quickly in too short a period of time for it all to sink in. If I give it the retroactive benefit of the doubt.

Oddly, I can't identify with your response to the final couple episodes.

Nanami’s outburst, which bordered too much on that overdone line of “can’t live without you” that the feeling of moe is all about.

Was it really about a feeling of moe? I thought it was about love—not infatuation, not romance, but love—and the deep effects it had on Nanami's psyche. I was deeply affected by all that stuff. Ever after Sakura's warning, really, I guess I was on the edge of my seat waiting for something to go wrong, and the show really played up the "ominous" ahead of the disaster. And so when the shit really did hit the fan (after a very potent false warning), I was pretty into it, worried for the characters, wondering how they could recover...

Kenji, physically. Nanami, mentally. The two of them, temporally.

Wait no. My parallelism just fell to pieces. What I meant was recovering time.

BUT YEAH, everything turned out alright in the end, so fuck you Sakura :3

Lamune was terrible! I dropped it after 2 episodes back when it aired XD

But anyway, the what i was forced actually came out because I forced JP to watch anime I burned on CD like 10 years ago. My "what i forced myself" is just a parody of that. I rarely ever force myself to watch anything because most of the time I watch as I blog.

I just decided to go back to Geass because all these things around me (and CC x Lulu fanarts) suddenly piqued my curiosity xD Unlike JP, my category will probably not continue much longer XP
