YUUICHI START!
Next!
The one major flaw of Kanon, to me, is how the girls are shuffled in and out of Yuuichi’s Number One Harem Member slot. Makoto’s arc took up the majority of the last 8 episodes, and definitely near the end it had major tear-jerker power.
And so it’s done, and we call in our next candidate, Mai Kawasumi. I’ve got absolutely nothing bad to say about Mai, but sometimes I wonder how Yuuichi moves on so fast from one girl to the next without pausing for downtime or at least a ‘meanwhile’ episode a la the Mayumi/Nadeshiko episode in Shuffle!. Then again, we have no time to spare in Kanon. Wink wink, nudge nudge.
And neither do I, with the arrival of More Import Japanese Stuff for Crazy White Otaku Man (i.e. Initial D Special Stage. also, Haruhi and Shuffle!Memo is burning a hole in my compy) so jump. Now. How high? Don’t give me that idiocy. Just click the link, as long as you’ve completed the Kanon series; with the start of a new arc we’ve got new spoilers for the entire thing. Or at least Mai. Wai for Mai~ (catchphrase’d/10)

The further I get into these anime, the less I can really post for summaries in the pre-jump section. Pretty much all I could say about the situation in which Rin and Sia ditch class to go on a date is, em, to put it Haruhi style, classified information.
Here’s an interesting thing though; the episode’s titled True Feelings. But whose? Something that would be very interesting to find out, as the Shuffle! Race for Rin ™ continues, with 2 and a half contestants left in the race.
It’s Sia 2nd turn at the date-o event. She put up good numbers on her first attempt but her scores have quickly been eclipsed and if she doesn’t improve soon she may be eliminated from this competition…let’s take a look at the hidden camera presented by Daidouji&Thyme Incorporated and oh my!

I think we may have to cut the feed on this one. We’ll be right back folks, after the jump! (oh yeah, and spoiler-free (relatively) post; covers through episode 17)

Well, get on with it, Makoto.
If you’ve been watching along, you should know just what Makoto should be getting along with – and for the less Auu-inclined like me, should’ve been getting along with last episode or the one before – and if you haven’t, as I always say, go watch the series, now, and come back, because Kanon 10 is serious spoiling business (although, only up through Kanon 10). I’ll have the tissues waiting.
It’s too bad that the section before the jump is shorter than usual, but that’s because this is a pretty important episode to the series, and I don’t wish to spoil it. Although sometimes I feel that if you try to read between the lines really hard you already know what’s going to happen, just from these previews.
Oh, and we’ve got one day to the Haruhi invasion of North American stores. Looking forward to the resurgence of Nagatoism~
Continue past the jump as always…

Whose arc is it anyway? Well, we’ve covered Sia’s, Nerine’s, and Rimu’s, so that leaves two characters to go; Kaede and Asa.
Right? Wrong.
We’re not quite going to wind it down that quick, as Sia refuses to be put down as she comes back for Part II.
Of course, if you’ve watched this episode you may vaguely be aware of the face that although it’s Sia’s arc, it’s not really Sia’s arc. WTF am I talking about? Hit the jump to find out. Safe for through Episode 16. (uh, this episode)

Going down cap’n! We’re going down! Red alert! Red alert!
Makoto’s situation continues to worsen as we reach the last of the single-digit episodes of Kanon. She is now the star as her arc kicks into full gear; although it’s questionable how long it, and her, will last.
Perhaps, despite all the bad news, she may live, however. It is up to the viewer to decide at this point what kind of a series Kanon is, a happy one or a sad one, and I as one who have watched it twice can say with confidence that whatever you pick, you’re wrong.
The exact details of what and why, however, shall be left out. Kanon 9 drops the foreshadowing for events in the way future, instead focusing on unwinding most of Makoto’s plot. As such this post has no major spoilers for those who have completed up to the 9th episode, and is safe to read. Let’s move on!
