Myself;Yourself 10 – PLOT Just Kicked In, Yo

And, like every good street racer in anime, Myself;Yourself has jumped four gears from second to sixth and is accelerating at about the speed of a jumbo jet.

As the guy in the shotgun seat all we can do is sit there, whiplashed, and stare agape at how fast things are whizzing by us. And with the end of the road coming up quick it’s definitely possible for panic to set in.

There’s no way he could make the turn. No way that I’ll survive this alive.

Only one thing is sure, and that’s that they’re not going to let up on the gas any time soon.

Car references aside, Myself;Yourself really did take a turn for the holy shit in its last episode, number 10. It’s a combination of plot developments that left many people polishing up their Nice Boats in anticipation.

In all truthfulness, the rumors of impending death, most likely, have been greatly exaggerated, but that doesn’t stop the fact that some very interesting and dramatic things are likely to come up soon as Myself;Yourself rushes towards the cliff, Kaiji style, ready to make a flying leap.

Whether it’ll make it remains to be seen, but until then let’s take a look at the situation, as there’s still quite a lot to play for in this story.

An Accelerated Course in Shana, Part II – the Movie

Having read the light novel a few months ago, the manga a few days ago, and with the second season just getting underway, Shakugan no Shana fever is in full fury.

Perhaps curiosity is a better descriptor, since as much as two manga volumes and one light novel can teach you, one can imagine a gaping hole in the plotline, a huge amount of something missing, that can only be found in sinking large amounts of time and, since we are relatively moralistic around here, money into watching the entire first season of Shana.

There’s no doubt that a show like this can be easily picked up upon in the first few episodes of the sequel, being what seems to be of the general type ‘boy meets supernatural girl, action romance ensues’, but naturally there are a few nuances that are missed here and there, some twists, character development, and in the case of the Shana series, confusing jargon.

Now turning to an hour-and-a-half movie may not be the best way to cover what I presume is a large part of the 12-hour, 24-episode series, but as the cliches go, 1) any port in a storm, and 2) watch first, ask questions later.

What follows is an impression of the Shana movie from a relative newbie to the series; it seems to reprise much of the storyline from the first light novel, so I can’t claim that it’s totally new content, but there certainly will be a lack of comparisons to how the anime handled the same content.

School Days 11 – Rien ne va plus

“No more bets.”

Alternative, all bets are off.

Just like the girls, I can’t seem to stay away from Makoto and his story and so it’s time to fire up the prediction machine one last time to see where this story is headed.

You’d think that with the original content and with the expectations of the fanbase one would expect the conclusion to be obvious. You’d also be wrong, with the curveball that the penultimate episode served up.

Breaking: School Days 09

Breaking as in news, and breaking as in all the rules in that I’m blogging about 1) a raw, 2) a raw I haven’t watched, and 3) a single episode post.

But, hey, School Days 9 pretty much confirms whatever that you didn’t want to happen, so it is big. Quick summary and quick thoughts after the jump.

You’ve been warned. Huge spoilers. Like, Civic rice rocket spoilers.

Da Capo 22: Singing the Praises

What can I say? It ends up getting better in the end after all. Even if the episode was 99% predictable from start to finish, I find myself to really be a sucker for visual novel conversions.

Although I’ve been through the same forced emotions tens of times, the eleventh time that a seemingly normal, happy character that will last forever dies, dissapears, or otherwise comes down with a case of Serious Plot, I still manage to tear up like the sap I am.

And what really makes things, well, funny in a way is how even my computer is in cooperation with it…
