And we’re back on the set of Uguu~! Today on Uguu~, newcomer Nayuki Minase was our latest contestant to attempt a shot at the throne of 5-episode champion of monosyllabic mastery, Ayuuuuuuuu Tsukimiya!
*crows cheers, jeers, etc.*

For those of you just tuning in, it’s been a close fight all the way through the episode so far. Minase got the first strike in this episode, but Tsukimiya quickly retook the lead two to one.
However, the bonus round of this episode awaits, and the category this time is “Movie Date-o!” The situation is looking bad for Minase, who’s been excluded from participating in the bonus round. Tsukimiya has a big chance to expand her lead here, and third contestant Yuuichi Aizawa, the perennial contender for last place, has a shot of getting on the board here.
Let’s begin!
“Hey, look, a person exploded.” Now, the correct answer to this question is…
*ding*
Yes, Tsukimiya?
Ayu: UGUU!!
That’s correct! A third point for Tsukimiya, which makes it 3-1-0. Now, next question: when your coat is stolen away from you, the correct response is-
*ding*
Ayu: UGUU!!!!
Right again!
*flash forward*
And that’ll put you up to 16 points for today, Tsukimiya, with the correct answer to ‘what to say when the harem lead teases you!’ Which, incidentally, as it has been for the last 18 questions, ‘uguu’.
*more bells*
Ohhhhh, and that’s all the time we’ve got for today folks! Let’s look at the scores:

Aizawa made a valiant effort this time to score points but in the end he ends up tied with today’s feature contestant Minase with only one point. Which leaves Tsukimiya, with 16 points, you are today’s winner of…
UGUU~!
See you all next time after the jump, where sanity and much, much plot foreshadowing ensues. Remember, kids: spay and neuter your pets and don’t click the ‘read more’ link unless you’ve finished watching Kanon!

Sayuri needs an ending too, except without Mai. Great characters separately but I’m not feeling the yuri.
Hurry up, plot.
The fifth episode features a little of plot and a lot of awesome. In some cases, such as Mai, perhaps both at the same time.
Kyon Yuuichi has his sharp wit in full form this episode:

What happened to us, Mai!?
Such as interpreting Mai’s words, or lack thereof, for Sayuri, a somewhat recurring and completely awesome gag.
By the way, I’m only kidding, I’d pass on the yuri ending here. God, I feel bad just writing all these dirty jokes. Don’t worry, I’ve got plenty more.
And also when he interacts with Makoto throughout this episode – the ‘ero-hon’ conversation was definitely one of those rare laugh-out-loud conversations in Kanon. It’s just a shame that we don’t see the actual conversation as in Kanon 2002.
Not to mention the pictured bathtub scene (with bonus 3D animation). You have to appreciate Yuuichi’s sharp wit in the face of impeding death. Although he brought it a bit on himself…
Although, sometimes I wonder what would’ve happened if it was one of the other, non-rebellious Kanon girls, such as Nayuki, in that situation instead. I’m sure some of them wouldn’t mind as much.
…
Stop looking at me like that, Kanon was originally a H-game anyway, it’s not like I’m giving them new ideas. >_>
Anyway, back to the plot and foreshadowing after the jump, so stay far, far away if you have not finished the series unless you want me to tell you that Ayu ends up dying at the hands of Akiko’s jam, and Makoto gets hit by a bus, and Mai eventually falls for Nayuki instead of Yuuichi.
Yeah, I know, I’m funny.

Still essentially a fluff episode, as Yuuichi explores the town some more and gets to know people better. But the gears of Kanon are beginning to turn at the end of the episode with a girl in the school at night…
As always, these posts include massive damage spoilers, so if you haven’t finished the series, go do it, now. See you in 10 hours.

The harem tendencies most fully embraced in the early parts of Kanon are probably the parts that would turn people off the most. Yuuichi flits from girl to girl like any other harem anime.
It gets to the point where we get an establishing shot every 5 minutes or so which we can directly correlate to another character swap.
Hey, look, the courtyard! Shiori doesn’t like people who don’t give her enough screen time.
Upstairs, during lunch! Talk, Mai, talk! Ahaha~
To the shopping district! Let’s shop go look for ambiguous plot devices with uguu~
Back home. Let’s sleep! Or not! Makoto prank wars.
Hey, wait, we forgot somebody…
“Usotsuki.”
Hit the jump for massive spoilers on everything. This episode is starting to lean towards the Makoto arc, however, so we’ll concentrate on her a lot.

Hey look, it’s something different than Shuffle!
Seriously, I suppose I must look pretty silly and behind the times, blogging 2 series that are already well-finished. I’ve actually completed Shuffle! now and am started on the Memories recap series for it. Kanon 2006 I’m up to episode 15 on the incredibly spoilerish (as in if you haven’t watched the entire series don’t click the Read More button)second pass.
In this episode the harem is more clearly defined with the introduction of quiet girl Mai and quieter girl Shiori. Very loud girl Makoto makes an appearance in the end, while very normal Nayuki and Uguu girl Ayu make token appearance.
Ah, with a harem like this, the fun could go on forever, eh Yuuichi?
